Home Infusion

Since our philosophy embraces the concept of independence, one of the ways to achieve this with hemophilia is through self-care and home infusions.  Infusing oneself or one's child at home gives families an incredible amount of independence from our Center and opens the doors to travel and out of town camp and college which otherwise would be far more difficult.

Our staff nurses give patients and caregivers sufficient training that they feel comfortable doing safe, competent infusions at home.   However, because of the astronomical costs of clotting factor, in order to be on this program, patients/caregivers must agree call the Center with the following information:

• name of patient
• date of infusion
• time of infusion
• number of vials and units used
• bleed site
• whether bleed was spontaneous or trauma induced
