Our PhilosophyCommitment to Excellence
At the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center, we are committed to providing excellence in all aspects of patient care. We have assembled a team of world-renowned hematologists, highly-skilled nurses, social workers, and other caring consultants. By focusing their expertise in a comprehensive clinic setting, we are able to deliver state-of-the-art care to our patients and their families.
Patients & Medical Team Partnerships
Since we believe that our patients, along with their family members and healthcare professionals should be partners in any decision making affecting care, we continually seek ways of increasing their involvement in decisions about treatment and care. We believe that the individual supercedes any medical condition and that family plays a pivotal role in a patient's well-being. And since there are so many definitions of "family", we maintain an inclusive policy regarding whomever the patient considers "family". We offer support and educational services to family members of patients on any issue associated with needs arising from the patient's diagnosed condition.
Treating People & Families - Not Just Diseases
Because we treat the whole person/family - not just the disease, in addition to the patient's key medical problem, we also address psychosocial needs, financial challenges, social issues and insurance needs.
Prevention
We embrace the old adage - "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Our teaching encompasses living healthy lifestyles, exercising regularly, treating bleeds quickly, attending annual comprehensive care clinics and when appropriate treating prophylactically.
Dignity & Respect
At the Center, we are committed to policies, practices and behaviors which respect the role, gender, age, religion, race, culture and sexual bias of all those who interact with us. We celebrate our diversity while working together to fulfill our mission.
