Debbie Bennett Research and Data Manager

Debbie grew up in Irondequoit and went to Monroe Community College. She came to us after working at Rochester General Hospital for 26 years: 20 in Medical Intensive Care and 6 in the Lipson Cancer and Blood Center. In 2007 Debbie started here as our Administrative Assistant and in 2010 she became our Research and Data Coordinator.

Family is very important to Debbie so when she is not at work you will find her doing what she loves most, being a mom and a grandmother.

Rose Ann Bovenzi, RN Nurse Coordinator

Rose Ann joined our staff in August 2011. She graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College in 1995 and began working at Highland Hospital. From 1997 to 2006 Rose Ann worked on the Blood & Marrow Transplant Unit working with both children and adults. She worked for Interlakes Oncology for 5 years before join the Center's team.

When Rose Ann isn't working, she enjoys cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Renee DeRider, RN Nurse Coordinator

Renee joined the nursing staff in 2008. She has been a nurse since 2001. After graduating with her RN, she worked on a pediatric hematology/oncology/medical unit at Strong Memorial Hospital (SMH). She spent 7 years working with infants, toddlers and school-aged children and brings this wonderful experience to our Center. During her employment at SMH, she became a preceptor to new nurses, thereby passing on her passion for nursing to those just entering the profession.

Renee is kept very busy in her home life with her husband and 2 kids. When she has a spare minute she also enjoys running, P90X, decorating her house and reading.


Bob Fox President/CEO

Bob has been President/CEO of the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center in Rochester, NY since June of 2000.  He has been involved with Rochester’s healthcare industry since 1990, formerly with the Rochester Health Care Forum and as Executive Vice President of the Hospital Consortium of Greater Rochester (Rochester Area Hospitals Corporation).  He is past president of the Hemophilia Alliance, an organization that promotes the interests of Hemophilia Treatment Centers nationwide (www.hemoalliance.org).  He was on the organizing committee that founded ATHN – American Thrombosis and Hemostasis Network, a non-profit organization providing stewardship for the creation and operation of a national data base for the bleeding and clotting disorders community (www.athn.org) – and served as ATHN Treasurer. He instigated and supports a State-wide collaborative advocacy effort focused on challenges facing people with bleeding disorders. Each September, he completes the Finger Lakes Triathlon at a leisurely pace.

In 2011 & ‘12 Bob was privileged to complete the Advanced Leadership Course given by Leadership Coaching, Inc. (www.leadershipcoachinginc.com).  He was a 2008 graduate of Leadership Rochester ( (www.leadershiprochester.org ).   He has a master’s degree in Health Administration from Cornell University and a BA from Union College. Bob lives in Rochester. His son is a student at American University in Washington, DC. 


 

Eric Iglewski, LMSW Director, Social Work

Eric joined the staff in the fall of 2010 as Social Worker. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Oregon and his Master in Social Work from Boston College in 1994. Prior to joining our staff Eric worked for 9 years at Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong with children diagnosed with cancer and various blood disorders. When he's not spending time with his wife or twins, he loves music, camping and is an avid traveler.


Saad Jamshed, MD Associate Physician

Dr. Saad Jamshed is a graduate of Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed Internal Medicine training at Rochester General Hospital and Hematology/Oncology training at Georgetown University.

Dr. Jamshed in addition to his appointment at our Center also provides Oncology Services at the Lipson Cancer and Center for Blood Disorders at Rochester General Hospital.


Peter Kouides, MD Medical & Research Director

Dr. Kouides is currently both Medical Director of the Center and Director of Research. He received his MD in 1986 from the State University of New York at Syracuse, did his residency at Tufts University and then came to the University of Rochester to do Fellowships in both hematology and oncology. He has won numerous awards- several from the University for Rochester for excellence in teaching in Internal Medicine and another Award of Excellence from the National Hemophilia Foundation for his work with women with bleeding disorders.

In 2008 he was awarded the first annual Humanitarian Award by the Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center. In 2009, the National Hemophilia Foundation named Dr. Kouides Physician of the Year. Periodically he travels to Kyrgyzstan where he helped establish a Hemophilia Treatment Center.


Jennifer LaFranco, RN, BSN Vice President, Clinical Programs / Compliance Officer

Jennifer has been with the Center since 1999. Prior to joining our staff, she worked in hematology/oncology at Park Ridge Hospital and in the blood services department of the American Red Cross doing apheresis -- a procedure in which blood is drawn from a donor and separated into its components, some of which are retained (plasma & platelets) for later infusion into patients.

When she isn't working at the Center, Jennifer enjoys relaxing watching Home and Garden television, reading and traveling.


Andrea Lester Office Manager

Andrea joined the Center in 2002 as a receptionist and is now Office Manager. She runs the front office efficiently and manages all the daily issues with a smile.

She moved here from Connecticut and is married with two children, Amanda and AJ. She loves shopping and reading and spending time at home.


Linda Magliocco Senior Vice-President/CFO / HIPAA Privacy Officer

Linda, a long-time dedicated employee of the Hemophilia Center, joined the Center staff in 1988 as Billing Clerk. She later served as the Bookkeeper, Office Manager and Controller, prior to her promotion to VP in 2004. She's our no-nonsense, number one numbers person. In 2006 Linda received our Shining Star Employee Award. Linda earned her BA in accounting at Empire State College.

She is a happily married mother of 2 daughters - Joanne and Andrea. With 3 beautiful grandchildren: Elizabeth, Kaitlin, and James. During the summer Linda spends her weekends 'relaxing' at her summer cottage in the Thousand Islands Area. She loves reading, fishing and is a new tennis enthusiast!


Prad Phatak, MD Associate Medical Director

Dr. Pradyumna Phatak has a medical degree from Christian Medical College in Vellore, India.  He came to Rochester to do post-doctoral fellowships in Internal Medicine at St. Mary's Hospital and Hematology/Oncology at Strong Memorial Hospital.

In addition to his appointment at our Center, Dr. Phatak is the Head of the Lipson Cancer Center and Center for Blood Disorders at Rochester General Hospital.

He has to his credit over 30 published scientific articles, several books and is invited to speak around the world.


 

Ronald Sham, MD Medical Director

Dr. Sham is the Center's Medical Director and has provided hematology care to the Center's patients for over 20 years.

He graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in biophysics and from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine.

He practices hematology in the Lipson Cancer and Center for Blood Disorders at Rochester General Hospital. Dr. Sham has been intimately involved with hereditary hemochromatosis outreach and research at the Center.

Dr. Sham's quick wit is enjoyed by all.


Jan Stolte Billing Coordinator

Depending on how it's counted, Jan may be the most longstanding Center employee.  She is dedicated and loyal.  She joined our staff back in 1979 and then left for maternity leave.  Fortunately, she returned and has been with us ever since. She is our billing secretary and does medical transcription for all of our doctors. In 2006 Jan was awarded our Employee Shining Star Award.

Jan received her Medical Assistant Certification in 1976 and later earned her Certified Medical Insurance Specialist Certification.

A dedicated wife and mother to two young men, Jan enjoys swimming and boating when she isn't traveling to watch her sons play college football. Jan's wonderful sense of humor, work ethic and dedication to the Center inspire everyone.


Tom Wilmarth Headshot

Tom joined the staff of the Center in 2010 after serving on our Board of Directors for 3 years. In his role here, Tom handles multiple responsibilities including public policy/advocacy, marketing/communications and fund raising. Tom directs the Finger Lakes Triathlon, which is the Center's biggest annual fund raiser and one of the premiere triathlons in New York State. Prior to joining the Center, Tom held various positions in sales and sales management focused mainly in the technology sector with companies such as Global Crossing and Sutherland Global Services. He lives in Pittsford with his wife and two children.
