The Mary M. Gooley Hemophilia Center Scholarship Fund
Are you looking for money for college? The Center wants to help!
Each year the Center awards approximately $2,000 in academic scholarships to assist patients and their families with the cost of obtaining a college education. In addition, in 2009 the Center introduced another scholarship opportunity in memory of a beloved friend:
The Bob Hersh Scholarship Fund
Robert Hersh, Ph.D. 1950-2007. Bob was a Psychologist at Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities service office, and Associate Professor at Monroe Community College. His community involvement included the AIDS Rochester Program Review Committee and the American Association of Mental Retardation. Bob was a past Hemophilia Center Board member and also served as Board Secretary for two terms between 1995 and 2001.

To be eligible, candidates must be: High school upperclassmen or graduates or students in good standing who are already enrolled in a post-secondary program, and planning to enroll in a course of study at an accredited 2- or 4-year college, university, or vocational technical school program or certified training program, with priority given to undergraduate study, And A person affected directly or indirectly by Hemophilia, von Willebrand Disease, hereditary bleeding disorder or Hemochromatosis
AND
Reside in or going to school in one these 48 upstate NY counties: Albany, Allegany, Broome, Cattaraugus, Cayuga, Chautauqua, Chemung, Chenango, Clinton, Columbia, Cortland, Delaware, Erie, Essex, Franklin, Fulton, Genesee, Greene, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Livingston, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orleans, Oswego, Otsego, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Schuyler, Seneca, St. Lawrence, Steuben, Tioga, Tompkins, Warren, Washington, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates.
Applications: Should be copied from the links above (all 3 forms!) or they can be forwarded to you by calling the Center at 585-922-5700. The person applying needs to complete an application along with two (2) letters of recommendation and a financial statement. ALL the forms you will need can be printed by clicking on the links above.
Deadline: All completed materials are due no later than March 30, 2013.

Award Process: Winners will be notified directly. The scholarship winner(s) will be announced at the annual meeting in June.
